Joel F. Dean

Joel F. Dean, age 70 of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at his residence. Joel was born in Gordon County, February 18, 1944, son of the late Joyel F. Dean and Tommie Kate Dean, he was Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army and was a retired Sergeant with the Atlanta Police Department with 35 years of service. Survivors include his children, Samuel Dean of Fulton County, Phillip Dean of Paulding County, Virginia Dean of Fort Worth, Jeffrey Rachels of Fort Worth, Julia Fednander of Power Springs, and Jennifer Dressler of Fort Sill, OK., one brother, Thomas Dean of Ranger. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 24th at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Chaplain Lavonia K. McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors afforded by the United States Army and the Dalton American Legion. The Atlanta Police Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Thomas Funeral Home.
