Joe Biron Stewart, age 85 of Ranger, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence.
Joe was born on January 23, 1932 in Gordon County to the late Jess Stewart and Esty Dobson Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Godfrey; and siblings, Louise Stripling, Margie Davis, Demple Fuquea, Martha Owens, Jane McBee, Tommie Sutherland, and J.C. Stewart. Joe was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Eastgate Baptist Church, and was a well-known area contractor. He loved the outdoors, his Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR. Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Pam Stewart of Calhoun; brother, Kenneth Stewart of Cartersville; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda and Ronnie Rogers of Calhoun, Ann Whitfield of Calhoun, and Dean Mealor of Adairsville; two grandchildren, Tony Stewart and Kristen Stewart; and two great-grandchildren, Grayson Stewart and Hayleigh Stewart.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, January 7th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Kenny Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with nephews serving as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, January 6th from 3 PM until 6 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Joe be made to Eastgate Baptist Church at 1001 Curtis Parkway, SE, Calhoun, GA 30701.
