Joe Van Greeson

Joe Van Greeson, age 71, of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at his residence.

Van was born on September 16, 1951, in Gordon County, GA, son of the late Virgil Greeson and Mildred Ruth Parker Greeson. In addition to his parents, Van was also preceded in death by: his wife, Joanne Cox Hammond Greeson; and one sister, Ann Greeson. Van was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement he worked as a pipe fitter for Local 72 Atlanta. He was a member of Sonoraville Baptist Church.

Van is survived by: one sister, Sue Erwin and her husband David; two nieces, Tara E. Coiner and her husband Dan, and Rachel Erwin; two great-nephews, Vance Coiner and Vaughn Coiner; one great-niece, Sophie Coiner; and a special friend, Kelly Hammond and her children, Gage and Hartley.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jether Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
