Joan George

Thursday, April 12, 2007 Joan E. George, age 81 of Calhoun, Ga. and formerly of Macon, Ga. and Washington, D.C. died April 11. Joan was born, August 13, 1925 in Taunton, Somerset, England, daughter of the late John H. Kay and Ivy V. Stoodley Kay. She was the wartime bride, November 6, 1943, of the late Albert W. George and had been a U.S. citizen since 1952. She had worked with GEICO Insurance for 38 years and had served in Washington and Macon. She was a member of the Lake Wildwood Community Church of Macon and had lived in Calhoun since 2001. Joan is survived by one daughter, Valerie Van Houten of Calhoun; 3 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM, April 15 at Thomas Funeral Home. Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Joan E. George.
