Mr. Jimmy Ted Cornwell, age 71, of the Ranger community died at his residence Monday morning April 6th following several months of declining health.
Mr. Cornwell was born in Gordon County, April 28, 1937. Son of the late Charlie Andrew and Pearl Ella Lee Frady Cornwell. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had been employed with Queen Carpet prior to his illness. Mr. Cornwell was of the Holiness Faith. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters; Augusta Gravitt, Ruth Stroud, Geneva Stephens and Beatrice Cornwell.
Survivors include his wife; Brenda Cornwell of Ranger to whom he was married 42 years.. Two sons; Garson Ted Cornwell and his wife Julia of Calhoun and Scottie Dwight Cornwell and his wife April of Ranger. One brother; Rev. Charles Cornwell of Calhoun. Five grandchildren; Madelyn, Olivia, Isaiah, Nathaniel, and Elijah Cornwell also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 8th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Wilburn Childers and Rev. Lawrence Silvers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Rev. J.B. Ezell in charge of graveside rites. Earnest Randolph will have charge of the music.
Pallbearers serving include; Donald Gravitt, Kevin Cornwell, Tim Parker, Danny Parker, Shane and Jerome McGhee. Honorary escorts include; Chad Cornwell, Webb Ralston Jr., Justus McGhee, Barry Parker, Keith Ralston, and Ricky Coggins. These men are all ask to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 Wednesday.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8pm Tuesday evening.
