Jimmy Wayne Waddell, SR

Jimmy Wayne Waddell, SR, age 87 of Calhoun, GA, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on November 6, 1936, in Summerville, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Waddell. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Jo Walker; and son, Wayne Waddell, JR. 

Jimmy led a fulfilling life as a musician and was known for his talent in Charlie Bohannon's band "Jewell Tones." His love for playing music brought joy to countless people.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his children: Hope Ray and her husband Chris of Calhoun, GA, Kay Weldon and her husband Pat of Hawkinsville, GA, and Doyle Walker and his wife Trisha of Byron, GA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Waddell of Calhoun, GA; a special friend N.B. Goss and his wife Dollie; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will gather to receive friends on November 15th, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. 

To honor and celebrate the life of Jimmy a graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2 PM at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rebekah Beavers in charge of graveside rites. Tony Seacrest, Anthony Seacrest, and Timmy Tate will serve as pallbearers.  

He will forever remain in our hearts as an exceptional musician and a loving friend. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
