Jimmie Poarch Robertson, age 86, of Calhoun, passed away Monday September 23rd in the Floyd Medical Center.
Jimmie was born March 12, 1927 in Gordon County, daughter of the late John Neal Poarch and Maude Montgomery Poarch, she was a graduate of Fairmount High School, attended West Georgia College and received her teaching degree from the University of Georgia, while teaching school for 30 years in the Gordon County School System she received her Master of Education degree and her six year certificate from Peabody College in Nashville. After retirement Jimmie continued working in the family business at Shepherds Motel and Restaurant where everyone enjoyed her homemade yeast rolls. She was a member of the Calhoun First Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Robertson, Sr., a son, William G. Robertson, Jr., and a sister, Johnnie Mae Gazaway.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Robertson and Mathew Robertson and his wife Mandy, one sister, Mary Jean Greene and her husband Charles all of Calhoun. Four grandchildren, Christina Robertson, Stephanie Fetzer, William Robertson, and Matt Robertson, two great-grandchildren, Dylan Robertson and Liam Fetzer also survives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 26th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. William Camp officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8pm.
