Jimmie Lou Mathis Barnes

Jimmie Lou Mathis Barnes, age 77 of Ranger, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at her residence.

Jimmie was born on December 8, 1945 in Ranger, GA, daughter of the late John William Mathis and Mary Alice McTeer Mathis. In addition to her parents Jimmie was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Anthony Barnes. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County, GA and was a graduate of Fairmount High School. Prior to her retirement Jimmie was employed by Shaw Industries as their Training Coordinator. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Jimmie is survived by: one son, Johnny Edward Barnes and his wife Theri; one daughter, Lisa Marie Barnes Childress and her husband Rocky; and six grandchildren, Josh Barnes and his wife Rebecca, Ashlyn Barnes, Erin Barnes, John Barnes, Chloe Childress and Bradley Childress.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 4 PM until 6 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Tim McCulley officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill/Campbell Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include: Gary Goble, Terry Mathis, Dow Evans, John Barnes, Josh Barnes and Rocky Childress.
