Jewell Winkle Miles

Jewell Winkle Miles, age 84, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday afternoon January 25th in Calhoun Health Care. Jewell was born June 5, 1929 in Cherokee County, Alabama, daughter of the late Adolphus John Williams and Lillie Mae Womack Williams, she was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Winkle, Sr., and her second husband, Roy Edward Miles. Her daughter, Joan Hall, sisters, Jeanette Vondenberger, Sarah Simpson, and Faye Curry also precede her. Survivors include three sons; Vernon Winkle, Jr. of Calhoun, Robert Winkle of Rome and Virgil Winkle of Dalton, four daughters; Paulette Avery of Galveston, Tx., Judy Green of Rome, Bambi Johnson of Rome, and Debbie Patton of Utah, one sister, Virginia Greene of Rockmart. Fifteen grandchildren and a number of great and great-great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday January 27th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Channell officiating. Burial will follow in the West Union Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Mark Ellis, Dakota Ellis, Chris Payne, Michael Payne, Josh Mount, and Jeremy Mount.
