Jewell Edna Leonard

Friday, September 08, 2006 Mrs. Jewel Edna Leonard Age 84 of Shannon, Ga. died Friday September 8 in Winthrop Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Leonard was born in Murray County on January 22, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tonie Hall Davis. She was preceded in death by her late husband James Oscar “Slim” Leonard on March 1, 2002 and a daughter Linda Joyce Leonard January 1, 1935. She was a resident of Shannon since 1951, was a homemaker, and a member of the Shannon Church of God. Jewel is survived by a son, Howard Leonard and wife Karen of Cartersville; a daughter, Joan and her husband, William Ford of Shannon; a brother Jack Davis of Chatsworth; and a sister Peggy D. Acree of Calhoun; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday September 10th. At 4:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. William Ford officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Jeff, Chris and Jason Ford, Ryan Acree, Randy Leonard, and Kenneth Leonard. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 3:30 Sunday. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
