Jewel Brown

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 Mrs. Jewel Owen Brown age 91 of Calhoun, died Sunday evening in Calhoun Health Care Center following an extended illness. Jewel was born in Gordon County on Dec. 7, 1918 daughter of the late John and Ada Buford Owen. She was a member of the Echota Baptist Church and prior to her retirement she was employed by OJ Mills for a number of years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Hoyt Brown in 1988, a daughter; JoAnn Brown Pavlovsky, a grandson; Shane Brown, brothers; Jimmy, Hulon, Nonnie, Roy and G.L. Owen and sisters; Freda Mae Greeson, Leah Allen , Herlene Stewart, Gertrude Chadwick and Clara Mathis. Survivors include sons, Jack and Rebecca Brown, Michael and Jackie Brown, all of Calhoun, 7 Grandchildren; Tracy Pavlovsky, Shea and Brett Smith, Shawn and Kim Brown, Tara and Andy Walker, Erin Brown, Michael Brown, and Lindsey Brown. 7 great-grandchildren; Tabith Pavlovsky, Tyler Pavlovsky, Katelyn Pavlovsky, Stanton Talley, Dustin Talley, Anna and Abi Smith and 1 great-great-grandchild also survives. Funeral services will be conduced at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday August 18th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Collins, Dawn Walter and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening.
