Mrs. Jessie Hagler Chitwood, age 91 of U.S. Highway 41 North, Calhoun, died Wednesday November 15th. in Gordon Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Chitwood was born in Bradley County , Tennessee on October 26, 1915 daughter of the late Arthur and Dessie Bradley Hagler. She had been a resident of Calhoun and Gordon county since 1940, was a member of the Resaca Church of Christ and for a number of years was the Co-Owner along with her husband Trammell Chitwood of the Chitwood Bootery in downtown Calhoun. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a niece Mamie Lee Singleton.
Survivors include three nieces: Geneva Johnson and her husband Bill of Rocky Face, Ga., Patty Crane and her husband Jim of Dalton, and Connie Sayer and her husband Don of Dalton. Several great-nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law: Edna Owens and her husband George of Calhoun and a special friend Nita Chitwood Smith of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday November 17th from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Ministers. Jule Medders and Frank Mills officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Danny Tennent, Bret Medders, Jerry Bowen, Jeffery Smith, Kenneth Medders, Michael Leonard and Hugh Galyean and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Friday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and 12 Noon until 2:00 on Friday.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Resaca Church of Christ.
