Jessie A. "Shorty" Banks

Jessie A. “Shorty” Banks, age 81, of Calhoun, passed away Monday September 1st at his residence. Shorty was born January 24, 1933 in Gilmer County, son of the late Bill Banks and Amany Anderson Banks. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed at Georgia Tufters prior to his retirement. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters; Honor Callaway, Demple Lowe, and Ola Baldwin, and six brothers; Frank, Kimsey, Josh, Mark, Ira, and Clifford Banks. He is survived by his children; Ann Gallager and her husband Mike, Wayne Banks and his wife Rhonda, Billy Banks and his wife Brenda, Bobby Banks and his wife Cindy, Sandra Kirby and her husband Larry, Judy Smith and her husband Gene, Doug Banks and his wife Nina, and Vickie Perez, one brother, Henry Banks, one sister, Jewel Wilson. Twenty grand-children and thirty-three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 4th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Blake Banks, J. J. Kile , Tony Gallager, David Gallager, Joseph Wheaton, and Brandon Banks.
