Jerry Benjamin Sims, age 72, of Calhoun, passed away Thursday May 30th in Gadsden, Alabama, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jerry was born in Gordon County, January 11, 1941, son of the late Alvin Raymond Sims and Winnie Lee Sitton Sims. He was an avid fisherman and a renowned fishing guide who has appeared in magazines and on television. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Carter Sims, one son, Donnie Sims and his wife Leona all of Calhoun, one daughter, Judy Jones of Kentucky, one sister, Elaine Thompson and her husband Jerry of Chatsworth, one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Thomas and her husband Tyler and one great-granddaughter, Karson Thomas. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be conducted Monday June 3rd at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 until 8pm.
