Jeanette Juanita Wise

September 23, 1938 — January 2, 2025

Calhoun

Jeanette Juanita Wise, of Calhoun, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2025.

Jeanette was born in Chabies, Alabama, to Ephraim Osborn Finch and Alva Elrod Finch, and spent her childhood exploring the outdoors with her four siblings: Bill, Hazel, Raymeth, and Judy. Her family was raised in the Baptist faith, an important staple for her upbringing. Her faith was a guide for most of her life, propelling her toward living a life full of love and generosity.

Jeanette graduated from high school in Alabama and attended cosmetology school. She met her husband, Harry Lee, while she was working as a hairdresser in St. Petersburg, FL. They married and settled down to start a family. Together, they had four children: Harry, Keith, Russell, and Susan. Jeanette was a loving and attentive mother, keeping a home tidy and full of warmth. She was a proud military officer's wife, and supported her husband's military career.

A lifelong animal lover, Jeanette was supportive of rescue organizations for cats, and was active with McKamey Animal Center. She participated in adoption events, and hoped to provide animals with new start with a loving home. Jeanette kept a loving home for her family and friends, including those with four paws.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Ephraim and Alva; her brother, Bill Finch; her sisters, Hazel Evett and Raymeth Finch; and one child, Keith.

Jeanette is survived by her sister, Judy Murphy of Ringgold, Ga; her children, Harry Wise III and his wife Pam of Columbus, Indiana; Russell Wise Sr. and his wife Allison of Thomasville, NC; Susan Wise (married to Jamie Rickett) of Calhoun, Ga. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Harrison (married to Amy) and Casey (married to Kevin); Russell Jr. (married to Jordan) and Kyle, and Sarah (married to Lewis); Katelen (married to Joey) and Bleu (engaged to Kristen). She has 7 great-grandchildren, and one on the way. Jeanette's large family is a testament to the love and warmth she encouraged.
