Jean Tate Chastain, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Gordon Health Care.
Jean was born on July 25, 1928 in Chattooga County to the late William Penn Tate and Bessie Parham Tate. Jean was an active member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church. She and her husband, Roy, owned and operated Robinson Auto Parts for twenty years. Jean loved music and grew up playing the violin. She was a dedicated blood donor, and gave several gallons of blood during her life.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Eugene Chastain of Calhoun; two sons, Larry Eugene Chastain and his wife, Lisa of Winder and David Keith Chastain and his wife Chee Chee of Toccoa; identical twin sister, Martha Sue Tate Copeland of Marietta; sister, Joan Tate Wadsworth of Kennesaw; granddaughter, Amanda Chastain Grier and her husband Britton; and two great-grandchildren, Verity and Cassia Grier. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family extends their love and appreciation to Kim Harbour, Jean’s companion and caretaker. Jean loved Kim as the daughter she never had.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 2nd at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 12 noon until the funeral hour at 2 PM.
