Jean Darnell

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 Mrs. Ima Jean Nix Darnell age 78 of Calhoun, died at 12:25 P.M. today in Gordon Hosptial. Mrs. Darnell was born in Gordon County on February 3, 1931 daughter of the late Rev. John Harvey Nix Sr. and Bertie Estelle Cooper Nix. She was a lifelong resident of Gordon County was a homemaker and a member of the Erwin Hill Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers; Rayford Nix, John Harvey Nix Jr. and Charlie Nix and a sister Ann Prater. Survivors include one son and his wife; Gary and Regina Darnell of Calhoun, one daughter and her husband; Debi and Rick Williams of Calhoun, two sisters; Denver Hegwood and her husband Ralph and Pat Burger and her husband Clarence all of Calhoun. Six grandchildren; Chris Smith, Julie Hunt, Tyler Darnell, Elizabeth Williams, Cole Williams and Olivia Williams, 2 step-grandchildren; Josh and Jessica Clingan, and five great-grandchildren; Sinjin , Jackson and Kelly Smith , Amelia and Allison Hunt and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday April 23rd. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Hand and Rev. James Shope officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening.
