Mrs. Jean Burns, age 80 of Chatsworth, died Thursday evening September 27th, in Murray Medical Center.
Jean was born May 22, 1932 in Polk County, Tennessee, daughter of the late Lee Locke and Esther Rymer Locke. She had spent most of her life in Gordon County and had formerly attended the College Street Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burns as well as eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons; Robert Burns of Calhoun and James Collie of Pensacola, Florida. Two daughters; Tammy Burns of Calhoun and Sherrie Johnson of Chatsworth. Two Brothers; Roger Locke and Tommy Locke and one sister, Sue Austin all of Dalton. Eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday September 30th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Darrin Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Chris Baker, Daniel Meador, Johnny Lawson, Mathew Burns, Houston Nance and Shawn Nance serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 8pm at the funeral home.
