Mr. J.D. Claude Davis, age 67, of Calhoun, died Sunday December 23, 2007 at his residence following several weeks of illness.
J.D. was born in Gordon County August 9, 1940 son of the late John Dennison and MaryAnn Burns Davis. He was a well-known businessman in Gordon County who owned and operated Davis Plumbing and Electrical for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Belmont Baptist Church. An active member of his community, J.D. was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, and the Georgia’s Plumbers Trade Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Oscar, Johnny, E.L. (Edd), and George Davis, a sister, Oma Davis.
Survivors include his son, Johnathan Daniel Davis and his wife Elisha Campbell Davis of Calhoun, his ex-wife Vickie Goswick of Calhoun, step-daughters, Jessica Goswick and Shelly Mullinax and her husband Todd all of Calhoun, one sister, Bertha Cady of Dalton, grandchildren, Lacey Mullinax, Matthew Mullinax, Stetson McStotts, and Aberum Davis, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 27 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Jether Cochran and Keith Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include, Danyl Pass, Matthew Rice, Billy Thompson, R.L. Rocky Davis, Kevin Smith, Keith Davis, and Dickie Goswick. Honorary escorts will include, Sam Momon, Glenn Carden, Pat Rasbury, Shelba Hall, Albert Edwards, Lee Roy Wilson, Albert Silvers, Keith Pass, Gregg Connell, Donald Pass, Jayne Davis, June Connell, Marshall Sloan, Bobby and Shirley Brown and Hilda Davis. These people are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Thursday Dec. 27th.
Sean Blockley and Darren Locke will have charge of the music.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 3:00 to 9:00 PM.
