Jane Allgood Smith, age 95, of Calhoun, passed away Friday, July 5th at her residence.
Jane was born October 31, 1923 in Oconee County, Georgia, daughter of the late Trammell and Annie Ogletree Allgood. She was known as Miss Jane to hundreds of Children she cared for at East Calhoun Day Care and Sunshine Kindergarten. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Smith, Jr. and her son James Scott Smith. Also preceding her in death were five sisters, Eldona (Buster) Jones, Chesta Clyde (G.W.) Luke, Alice (Robert) Hatfield, Anne Shope, and Margie (Jim) McIntosh.
Surviving her are her children, Rodney (Anita) Smith of Gainesville; Gail (Ray) Dudkowski of Marietta; and David (Paige) Smith of Calhoun. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Luke Smith, Nelson (Andy) Kilpatrick, Emily (Joey) Tatum, Clay (Sandra) Smith, Elizabeth (Alex) Cohan, Lance Dudkowski, Jacob Dudkowski, Wendi Smith Chandler, Kelly (Robby) Jourdan and Gail Smith. Five great-grandchildren as well as her brother in law, Rembert Shope also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday July 9th at 6pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving will be Lance Dudkowski, Robby Jourdan, Alan Jones, Matt Herod, Clifton Smith and Ray Dudkowski.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6pm Tuesday prior to the service.
