James Darrell Williams, age 74 of Resaca, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in Gordon Hospital.
Darrell was born on November 6, 1938 in Whitfield County. He was the son of the late Paul Hamby Williams and Carrie Hurst Williams. He attended the Canaanland Baptist Church, was a member of the Hill City Masonic Lodge F& AM, The American Legion 0047 and was the service manager of Clark Lift of Dalton for over thirty years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: three sisters: Louise Williams, Bobbie Jo Casey and Pauline Williams.
Survivors include: his wife, Leah Mae Williams of Resaca; one son, Mike Williams; one daughter, Pam Johns and her husband Perry of Resaca; two brothers: Charles Martin Williams and his wife Mary of Calhoun and Donald Williams and his wife Martha of Chatsworth; three sisters: Murtice Long of Calhoun, Kathryn Clark and her husband Bill of Calhoun and Doris Lombard and her husband Anthony of Cleveland, TN; five grandchildren: Matthew Williams, Tanner Williams, Anthony Johns, Justin Johns and Joseph Johns; one great-grandson, Mark Johns also survives.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 2nd from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Danny Jenkins and the Reverend Isaac Johns officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Anthony Lombard with graveside rites.
Pallbearers include: Lewis Waters, Jeffery Long, Paul Long, David Long, Monty Long, Kenneth Casey and Darrin Clark.
Honorary Pallbearers include: Billy Johns, Ernest Gentry, Allen Casey, Michael Woodford, John O’Brian and Bob Poarch.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8pm on Saturday, December 1st at the funeral home.
