James Leroy "Roy" Rabb

James Leroy “Roy” Rabb, M.D., age 87, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away in his sleep on July 9, 2012 in UniHealth Post Acute Care Brookhaven, Atlanta, Georgia. Roy was born in Charleston, South Carolina on July 17, 1924. His Family moved to Savannah, Georgia when he was a child, and he was raised there. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. A U.S. Navy veteran, Dr. Rabb served in World War II in the South Pacific (Okinawa) on the USS Charles Carroll, APA-28, as midshipman Lieutenant Junior Grade. He married Anne Marie Teasley in 1947, then attended the Medical College of Georgia graduating in 1952 with post graduate training at Crawford Long Hospital Atlanta, Georgia.He moved to Calhoun, Georgia in 1954 to begin his general medical practice retiring in 1996. In 2008, Roy moved to Belmont Village Senior Living in Atlanta, Georgia, to be near his daughter's family. He was very content there and made many new friends. He genuinely loved his family and friends and was an avid golfer and Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was preceded in death by: his wife of 58 years, Anne (Ree) Rabb; his son, Lance Wesley Rabb; sister Caroline Rabb Madison, and his beloved toy poodle “Charlie.” Survivors include: his daughter, Cameron Clark and her husband, Gerald; grandsons Spencer Lance Rabb and Russell James Clark; his niece Kathi C. Madison, M.D., daughter-in-law Denise Hill Rabb; and numerous nieces and nephews by marriage. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church of Calhoun on Saturday July 21 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Pete Ullmann and Rev. Lori Ethridge officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church @ 829 Red Bud Road, NE Calhoun, GA 30701-1968.
