Mr. James C. Roper, Jr., age 80, of Calhoun. Died Saturday morning July 21st at the 5th Avenue Health Center in Rome following an extended illness.
Mr. Roper was born in Bartow County, October 20, 1926. Son of the late James C. and Nellie Marr Roper, Sr.. James was a graduate of Cartersville High School and attended North Georgia College. He was an active member of the Meadowdale Baptist Church and a veteran of WWII severing in the United States Army. James was retired from Lockheed and was preceded in death by his wife Eva Frady Roper as well as two brothers Jack and Billy Roper.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Hubbard and her husband Harris. A niece, Vickie Lee and a great niece Ashley Lee.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday July 23rd at 3PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Stephen Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville with Dr. Garry Tate in charge of graveside rites. Music will be provided by Faye Bentley Angie Childers and Randy Seabolt.
Pallbearers include, Ronald Pearson, Steve Herod, Doug Massengill, James Rickett, and Edward Boswell.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1PM until the funeral hour.
