James “Blue” Richard Moore, age 85, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday May 24th in Gordon Hospital.
James was born September 20, 1928 in Gordon County, son of the late Ernest Moore and Kathleen Campbell Moore. He was a member of the West Union Baptist Church and was a graduate of Belwood High School class of “47”. He was a member of the American Legion Post #47 and a charter member of the Calhoun Elks Lodge #1883. James was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy and prior to his retirement was employed by Lockheed Aircraft for 37 years.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne King Moore, his sister, Margaret Burdette, two brothers, Toby and Wiley Moore, and a brother in law, John Allen King.
Survivors include his two daughters, Mitzi Hutchinson and her husband Frank, and Marci Hodges and her special friend Mark all of Calhoun, a brother in law, Robert King and his wife Shirley and a sister in law, Sara Ables King all of Calhoun, three grandchildren, Melea Robbins and her husband John, Curt Welch and his wife Brie, and Kate Hutchinson, one great-grandson, Colt Welch and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday May 28th at 1pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. John Barber officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include, Johnny King, Joey Moore, Kyle Moore and Brent Burdette. Mike Mitchell and members of the Calhoun Elks Lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 pm.
