James Lowell Johnson, age 80 of Plainville, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Floyd Medical Center.
He was born on March 14, 1934 in Green Ridge, Kentucky to the late Bert Johnson and Kate Sumner Johnson. James was a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and veteran of the Korean War. Also, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Diane Johnson; they were married from 1965 until her death in 1998. He was a member of the Meadowdale Baptist Church and lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Johnson of Plainville; son, John Lee Johnson and his wife Marcia; one brother, Bob Reed and his wife Helen; six sisters, Billee Jean Crutchfield, Janice Johnson, Karen Russell, Anna Mae Lawman and her husband Steve, Carol Parks and Paula Nagle; two grandsons, Jerry Johnson and his wife Elizabeth and their two children, Justus and Laila, and James Johnson and his wife Amanda and their daughter McKenzy; one step-daughter, Christina Payne; seven step-grandchildren, Mark, Randy and his wife Krista, Daniel, Megan, Ronald and his wife Laura, Kathryn, Zack and Josh; one step-great-grandson, Carter.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 20th at 2:00 PM at the Meadowdale Baptist Church with the Reverend Steven Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 2 – 5 PM and Monday evening from 4 – 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
