James Ross Jim (Cat) Carpenter, Jr., age 67, of Calhoun. Died Saturday January 21st at his residence following a long illness.
Jim was born July 8, 1944 in Polk. County,Tennessee. Son of the late James Ross Carpenter, Sr. and Etta Lee McNabb Carpenter. He was best known as the owner of Calhoun Cycle Center for more than 20 years. Jim was a member of the Hellions Motorcycle Club, the Resaca Masonic Lodge #724 and the Yaarab Shrine Temple. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Rollins Carpenter.
Survivors include his children, Holly Carpenter Vinson,Lisa Beck, Norman Carpenter, and a special sister-in-law Jan Meadows. Sisters, Marsha Leonard and Gary Woods and Karen McDonald and her husband Jim all Calhoun. Grandchildren, Blain Carpenter Vinson, Jason Chasteen, Jimmy Duggan, Kansas Serritt and Keisha Holt. Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special aunt Louise Hall also survives.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday January 23rd at 3:30pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Crider officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving include members of the Hellions Motorcycle Club. Jimmy Fox and Stan Harper will serve as honorary escorts.
