Mr. James Harmon Holcomb, age 87 of Resaca, passed away Wednesday, November 22nd at his residence.
Harmon was born February 5, 1936, in Murray County, son of the late James Jasper Holcomb and Annie Dell Blankenship. He was a faithful member of the Resaca Church of Christ. Harmon was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and was known as a trophy winning fox hunter. He retired from being a machine mechanic for various companies, Chitwood Rug, Sheheen Carpet, and Shaw.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Hayes Holcomb; children, James Gregory Holcomb and his wife Beth, Vicki Bennett and her husband Danny, Debi Gunn and her husband Roy; siblings, Liz Thomas, Lar Phillips, and Janice Easley; seven grandchildren, Kate Holcomb, Misty Miller, Tonya Podbielski, Niki Cochran, Cody Gunn, Tanna Bishop, Melissa Redding; seven great-grandchildren, Makala Redding, Matthew Redding, Tegan Bishop, Lexi Payne, Slade Cochran, Able Cochran, Bailey Podbielski; two great-great grandchildren, Mason Travis, and Alexander Redding.
Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, November 26th at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jule Medders officiating. Burial will follow at MT. Zion Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are as follows: Tony Gunn, Cody Gunn, Todd Sisson, Roy Graham, John Hyde, Seth Cochran, and Josh Spillman. Honorary pallbearers are as follows: Danny Bennett, Tommy Hayes, Charles Croft, Fred Hall, Hank Chitwood, and Johnny Davis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 26th from 1 PM until 3 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
