James R. Brown, age 80 of Oakman, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his residence.
Jim was born on November 21, 1932 in Whitfield County. He was the son of the late Charles Lester Brown and Lula Bell Haynes Brown. James served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Charlene Davis. Jim was the owner of the 411 Western Store, and was well known for talent and skill with leather work and saddle restorations.
Survivors include: his wife, Peggy Brown of the home; two sons, Jimmy and his wife Andrea Brown and Steve and his wife Jackie Brown; two step-sons, Dan and his wife Carrie Key and Eddie Key and his wife Lynn; Grandchildren, Kelsey Brown, Carson Brown, Cole Brown and Sarah Brown; step-grandchildren, Tanna Key, Cara Key, Grace Key, Hannah Key and Wyatt Key; two brothers, Bill and Larry Brown; and one sister, Barbara Whitley also survives.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 18th at 9:00am from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Brent Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors at 10:30am.
Pallbearers serving include: Jim Brown, Steve Brown, Carson Brown, Cole Brown, Dan Key and Eddie Key.
The family will receive friends on Monday an hour prior to the funeral.
