Jackie Hurley

Jackie Smith Hurley, age 88 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Signature Health Care at Tower Road in Marietta. Jackie was born on June 17, 1929 in Gordon County to the late Leonard E. Griffin and Rose Cox Griffin McBee. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Smith; and second husband, James Hurley. Prior to her retirement, Jackie was the owner of Jackie’s Fashions of Calhoun, and was former plant manager of Kuhlman’s Chenille. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County. Jackie is survived by her son, Jeff Emig-Smith and his husband, Len Emig-Smith of Smyrna; brother, Eugene Griffin of Taylorsville; sister, Ruth Nesbitt and her husband Fred of Calhoun; grandson, Christopher Parker; one nephew, Lenny Nesbitt; and two great-nieces, Amy Underwood and Allison Nesbitt also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, September 16th at 11 AM from the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church with Father Louis Tonsmeier officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Lenny Nesbitt, Jason Underwood, Chris Parker, and Tim Haney. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the funeral service from 10 AM until the funeral hour at 11 AM at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church.
