Jack H. Morris

Jack Morris, age 83 of Calhoun died Saturday morning in the Roman Court residence of Rome, Georgia. He was born March 29, 1930 in Douglas County, son of the late Comer Morris and Ethel Hill Morris. Also, he was preceded in death by a brother Harold Morris and a sister, Evelyn Ray. He was an alumnus of both West Georgia College and the University of Georgia where played varsity football for both schools. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun. Jack is survived by his wife, Sylvia Rowland Morris; one son Leonard Eric Morris and his finance, Shea Walraven; three grandchildren, Jackson, Chandler, and Morgan Morris all of Calhoun; one brother, Leonard Morris of Mississippi; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 Monday, May 13 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. John Barber, Dr. Bert Vaughn, and Dr. J. W. Wallis officiating. Nancy Ratcliff and Diane Dobson will have charge of music and burial will be in Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Active pallbearers are Jackson, Chandler, and Morgan Morris, Roy and George Crowley, and Lee Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are, Jerry Hurley, Dalton Wiley, Billy Sams, Donald Gallman, Alvin Massingill, Jeff Ruddell, Randy Jones, Tom Mullinax, Edward Clark, Michael Langston, and Butch Burch.
