Murphy as Murphy, Moore and Associates which, in 1981, partnered with Mr. Moore’s accounting firm: Moore, Colson and Co. Jack became well known as the Atlanta area “business doctor”, rendering his exceptional insight and services to bank lenders and their customers as well as other corporations. Today, the firm has become nationally recognized through the talents of his founding partner Greg Colson and Jack’s consulting protégé, Tim Ayres. They married three months late at Wieuca Baptist Church in Atlanta. Coincidentally, Jack was Controller of Venture Carpets Corporate offices in Atlanta until December 1973, and Shirley was employed in the Personnel Office of the Venture-Calhoun manufacturer in January, 1974. They never met until July of that year.
In 1995, he retired from Moore, Colson and Co, and in 1998 relocated to Plainville, Ga. where he and Shirley enjoyed country life on 82 acres, fishing and gardening. In 1999 he was stricken with Alzheimer’s Disease, which had taked the life of his partner, W.W. Murphy in 1998.
He was a devout Christian of unquestionable integrity, setting and living by the highest of standards for his employees, his family and himself.
