Jack D. Kime, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome. Jack was born on November 9, 1939 in Dixon, Illinois to the late Chandler S. Kime and Hazel Morgan Kime. He was an alumnus of the University of Southern Mississippi and served in the United States Air Force. Jack has been a resident of Gordon County since 1975 and was a member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church for over 40 years having held numerous leadership positions in the church during that time. He was the local manager for Sears and after his retirement worked as a substitute teacher for Calhoun City Schools and Gordon County Schools. Jack was an avid fan of the University of Alabama football team and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family. Additionally, he foundgreat joy in singing and art. Jack is survived by: his wife, Sally Kime of Calhoun; son, Jamie Kime and his wife Melissa of Cary, NC; daughter, Melissa Mobley of Woodstock, GA; brother, Mark Kime of Menominee, MI; sister, Janet Kramer of Rochelle, IL; four grandchildren Kathryn Reese Mobley, Knox Joseph Mobley, Stephen Richard Kime, and Nathan Jack Kime. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28th from 6 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends on Saturday, June 29th from 10 AM until the funeral hour at 11 AM at Calhoun First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 11 AM from the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Archer and Dr. Robert Hoffman officiating. Pallbearers serving are: Ted Cull, L.P. Owens, Alan Hathcox, Knox Mobley, Stephen Kime, Nathan Kime, Mike Willett, Jimmy Prater, and Pat Thornton. Honorary Pallbearers are: The Covenant Sunday School Class and The Friendship Sunday School Class. Flowers may be sent to Thomas Funeral Home or memorial gifts in honor of Jack may be made to Calhoun First United Methodist Church.
