Jack Davis age, 83 of Murray county, died at 11:15 AM. Saturday, August 20 in Gordon Hospital.
He was born in Murray County, October 25, 1927, son of the late Joseph Tom Davis and Tonie Ethel Hall Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Thompson Davis; three brothers, Glenn, Howard, and Bob Davis, two sisters, Jewel Leonard and Betty Davis, and a son in law, Herman Stafford. He was a member of the Higher Praise Church of God of Murray County.
Jack is survived by one daughter, Brenda Stafford of Chatsworth, one son Richard Davis and his wife Vivian of Chatsworth; one sister, Peggy Davis of the Farmville Community; one granddaughter, Carmen Hayes; two great grandsons, Jody and Alan Slaughter; two great-great grandchildren, Jake and Allie Slaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 23 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Jimmy Hogan and Billy Tatum officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Church of God Cemetery of Murray County.
Pallbearers are Ryan Acree, William Ford, Howard Leonard, Larry Gilley, Tom Gallman, and Rodney DeFoor. Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Henderson, Jakey Bright, Johnny Davis, Jody Slaughter, Alan Slaughter, John Davis, and Bob Gallman. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 AM Tuesday.
The Davis family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
