J.B. Satterfield, age 89 of Floyd County, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Etowah Landing Health and Rehabilitation.
J.B. was born on October 13, 1923 in Floyd County. He was the son of the late John T. Satterfield and Daisy Sartin Satterfield. J.B. was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the European Theater where he received a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, The Bronze Star and The Combat Infantry Badge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #5. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Satterfield.
Survivors include: his son, Jerry Satterfield and his wife Shela of Calhoun; two daughters: Joan Kines of Rome and Janis Moses and her husband Demar of Rome; seven grandchildren and nine grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26th from 2 – 4pm at Thomas Funeral Home. Entombment will be conducted in the Georgia National Cemetery with Military Honors on Monday January 28th.
