Monday, August 17, 2009 Mr. J.R. Fuller, age 86 of the Rock Creek Community died at 7:10 PM, Sunday, August 16, 2009 at his residence. JR was born in Gordon County, October 11, 1922, a son of the late John Robert Fuller and Lucille Parks Fuller. Two sisters, Illa Hyde and Virginia Sewell and a brother Meban Fuller, also preceded him in death. He was a World War II veteran with the 228th Engineer Mine Detection Company in Italy. He trained military dogs for the hunting of enemy mines. These Dogs were trained to find buried mines, and lay down beside them until given word to move, and was a well known retired chicken grower; and a member of the West Union Baptist Church. JR is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pearlie Mae Fuller of the Rock Creek Community, daughters, Brenda Jones of Ringgold, and Wanda Burroughs and her companion Kenneth Dobson of Calhoun; one son Donald (Cooley and his wife Millie Fuller of New Orleans and one sister, Melba Sewell of Plainville; One brother; Bobby Fuller of Newbrimsfield. Tx. 9 grandchildren and they include; Tina & Anthony Garner, Greg Jones Tim and Levette Jones all of Ringgold, Mickey and Mike Jones and Amber McNeese of Calhoun, Max Beau Jillian and Rebecca Fuller of New Orleans , 2 great grandchildren; Tiffany Young of Ringgold, Autumn Jones and Dani McNeese of Calhoun, Shelby Jones of Ringgold., 1 great-great-grandchild; Cash Lloyd of Ringgold.and his Mother-in-law ; Edna Stanley of Calhoun Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday August 19th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Brooks. Interment will follow in the West Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites Accorded by the Dalton American Legion Post. Pallbearers serving include Lewis Dobson, Chip Watford, Richard Hammontree, Larry Hamilton, Jackie Burns, and Jerry Burns. Honorary pallbearers include Cecil Futch, Phillip Barnett, and K.M. Miller These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday morning. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
