Mrs. Imogene Thornbrough Owens, age 88, of Calhoun. Died Thursday December 6th at 3:50 pm in Gordon Health Care following an extended illness.
Mrs. Owens was born in Gordon County April 4, 1919. Daughter of the late Wyle Jackson “Hard Rock” Thornbrough and Lela Lee Stewart Thornbrough. She was a homemaker and was retired after 40 years with Georgia Tufters. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. In additional to her husband Hugh Dorsey Owens who passed away in January 1945 she was preceded by two brothers; Bun Thornbrough and Stewart Thornbrough, three sisters; Sally Dell Harris, Alma Lee Bennett, and Beatrice Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pasley and Patricia Patterson and her husband Hollis all of Calhoun. One brother, Jack Thornbrough of Calhoun. One sisters, Lela Belle Brock of Hiram. Six grandchildren, Gary and Karen Pasley, Mitchell and Linda Pasley, Russell and Melissa Patterson, Randy and Tracy Patterson, Regina and Tom Harrison, Rachel and Jeff McNeese. Six Great-Grandchildren and two Step Great-Grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday December 9th at 2PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Chapel. With Rev. Lamar Hand officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday December 8th from 3 until 8pm.
