Hoyt G. Popham, age 82 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Gordon Hospital following an extended illness. Hoyt was born on January 3, 1930 in Chamblee, Georgia, son of the late Emory Otto Popham and Minnie Mae Ferrell Popham. Hoyt was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was employed by Action Electric. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: His wife, Demple Henry Popham, three sons; Wayne, Temple and Johnny Brannon, five brothers; Pete, James, Earl, Billy and Raymond Popham, two sisters; Sarah Nickelson and Louise Mabry. Survivors include: Three sons; Mike Popham and his wife Cathy of Marietta, Carl Jordan and his wife Squeak of Apopka, FL and James Popham of St. Augustine, FL.. Three daughters; Brenda Popham of Gainesville, Debbie Mosso of Franklin and Judy G. Colston of Calhoun. Two brothers; Charles Popham of Acworth and Bobby Popham of New Smyrna Beach, FL. One sister, Rachel L. Page of Acworth. Fifty grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday June 28th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde McEntyre officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Brandon Colston, Justin Brannon, Justin Thomas, Mitchell Black, Josh Owenby, and Jeremy Denmark. Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Black and Grant Thomas. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 8pm.
