Thursday, January 24, 2008 Mr. Hoyt Holbert age 81 of 2814 U.S Highway 411 , Fairmount, Ga. died today at his residence following an extended illness. Hoyt was born in Gordon County on Feb. 16, 1926 son of Maynard and Maulde Mason Holbert and had been a lifelong resident. He was a welder in the construction industry and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church . Hoyt served with the U. S. Navy in WWII and in addition to his parents was preceded in death by brothers; Coy, Floyd, Lloyd, William and Howard Holbert and a sister Betty Jones. Survivors included three sons; Larry Holbert of Calhoun, Mylon Holbert of Fairmount, and Mike Holbert of Alabama, two daughters; Sara Heath and Rhonda Worley both of Calhoun., his wife; Avanelle Holbert, one brother; Billy Holbert of Calhoun and a sister Inez Hooker of Adairsville,. 12 greandchildred and 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday January 25th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Ed. Pasley officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens near Red Bud. Pallbearers serving include Josh ., Corey, Blake, Chuck Holbert, Brandon Carney, Kyle Carney and Glenn Vanhouten and they are asked to meet at the Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. Friday. Wesley Hunt will have charge of the music. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday January 24th.
