Wednesday, February 20, 2008 Mr. Hilliard J. “Wes” Robbins age 93 of Marietta, died Wednesday Feb. 20 at the residence following an extended illness. Wes was born in Gordon county on May 1, 1914 son of the late Joseph Jeremiah and Maude Robertson Robbins and was a resident of Gordon county for many years before moving to Marietta. He was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church, was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and prior to retirement was employed at Lockheed Aircraft. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Mattie Irene Holcomb Robbins of Marietta in 1999, two sisters; Janette Brown and Mildred Erwin. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; JoAnn and Tom Tucker of Marietta, Linda and Bill Strickland of Roswell, two sons and dtrs-in-law; Larry and Robbie Robbins of Kennesaw and David Michael and Sheree Robbins of Marietta, one sister; Marie Cooley and her husband Bob of Gainesville, Ga;, five grandchildren; Lauren Robbins, Chris Robbins and his wife Ashley, Kiera Strickland,Glenn McClure and Dana Greenbaum and her husband Alan, three great-grandchildren; Bailey, Brittany and Blair McClure. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday Feb. 23rd. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Thomas Glenn McClure, Christopher Nicholas Robbins, Howard Withrow, Gerald Davis, Chuck Cooley and Steve Cooley and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. Saturday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday Feb. 22nd.
