Monday, April 12, 2010 Mr. Henry J. Kirby age 83 of 8025 Red Bud Rd., Ranger, died Sunday evening at his residence following several month of ill health. Henry was born in Gordon County on March 11, 1927 son of the late Sam Kirby and Pearl Ingle Kirby and lived all of his life here. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of Jesus Christ and was retired from Fafnir Bearing Co. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Fain Kirby and three sisters; Ruth Boswell, Maggie Cronon and Bessie Pack. Survivors include his wife Monnie Bkrookshire Kirby of Ranger, one son and daughter-in-law; Michael and Janie Kirby of Calhoun, one daughter and son-in-law; Diane and Daneward Sutherland of Calhoun, five grandchildren; Megan Kirby Schooley and her husband Troy of Okeechobee, Fl., Shane Kirby of Fairmount, Nathan O’Shields of Okeechobee, Fl. and Aaron O’Shields, Stephanie Kinman and her husband Brad of Calhoun, and Shaun Sutherland of Calhoun, great-grandchildren; Tate Kirby, James O’Shields, Abby O’Shields, Dalyn Silvers, Jaxson Silvers and Hudson Kinman, two brothers; Harbin Kirby of Resaca and William Kirby of Calhoun, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday April 14th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Wilburn Childers and Rev. J.B. Kirby officiating. Interment will be in the Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving include Freddie Craig, Hershel Pierce, Troy Parker, David Brookshire, Starlin Kirby, Marvin Pack , Jeff Cronon and Gary Haulk, Honorary pallbearers include, Randy Fouts, Jack Poarch, Gary Fuller, Clifford and David Crump, Ed Thomason, Grady Brookshire, Mike Bunch, David Pack, Darrel Sutherland, Bill Pass, and Tolbert Gallman. All these gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p. m. Monday and Tuesday Evening.
