Henrietta Mowell Acree, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2013 at the age of 84. Mrs. Acree was born in Decatur Georgia and grew up there. She was a graduate of Decatur Girls High and Tift College. While a student at Tift, ‘Retta’ met the love of her life, Marvin Acree Jr. They started their life together in Calhoun, Georgia and returned to Decatur to raise their family. In 1986, they moved to Conyers, Georgia where they lived until they moved to Fayetteville, Georgia 2 years ago to be closer to family. At the time of her death, Marvin and Retta had been married 62 years. In addition to her husband, Retta is survived by three children: daughters, Beverly Blakely (Raymond), and Angela Mills (Robert) and son Glenn Acree (Kim); seven grandchildren: B.G. Blakely (Tricia), Ashley Collette (Adam) and Carly Blakely ; John (Shereen) and Stephen (fiance’ Emily Yero) Mills; Jeremy and Sam Acree ; three greatgrandchildren: Jackson, Cason and Sadie Blakely; two sisters: Helen Robbins and Ruth Brooks; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Mowell, a brother Lamar Mowell, a sister Mary Morton and a son Marvin Acree III. A strong and faithful Christian with a loving servant spirit, Mrs. Acree was an active member of several churches through the years including Kirkwood Baptist, Rainbow Park Baptist, Rockdale Baptist and First Baptist Fayetteville. She enjoyed serving as a teacher of children, a leader in women’s organizations, a member of the choir and more recently as a faithful member of senior adult programs. A funeral service will be held at Fayetteville First Baptist Church on Monday March 18, 2013 at 2:00p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17th at the Carl J. Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials on her behalf to the church of your choice or to Fayetteville First Baptist Church. For additional information, contact Carl J.
