Mrs. Helen Pass Strickland, age 83 of Calhoun died at 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at her residence following a brief illness.
Helen was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was employed as a sales clerk for many years. Her husband, James Max Strickland preceded her in death May 14, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Strickland of Calhoun; a daughter and son in law, Marsha and Randall Talley of Dalton; three grandsons and their wives, Shane and Lisa Strickland, Ross and Charlene Strickland all of Calhoun; Jay and Stephanie Talley of Chatsworth; two granddaughters, Erin Talley of Mobile, Alabama and Kate Talley of Dalton; three great grandsons, Jett Strickland of Calhoun, Cole and Brady Talley of Chatsworth; two great granddaughters, Victoria Strickland and Ella Strickland of Calhoun; one brother, Bill Pass of Calhoun; two uncles, J.B. Whitfield of Calhoun and Harlan Whitfield of Tennessee; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 20 at the First United Methodist Church of Calhoun with Dr. Brian Clark officiating. Erin Talley, a granddaughter, will provide a eulogy. Musicians are Randall Talley, Dar Nix and Margaret Thornton. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Shane and Ross Strickland, Jay Talley, Edmond and Stuart Strickland, Chip Whitfield, and Chuck Magnum. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Grison and Lindsay Jackson. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 PM Tuesday.
The body of Mrs. Strickland will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Tuesday preceding the funeral. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
