Mrs. Helen M. Cochran, age 90 of Calhoun died at 5:53 PM, Monday, May 31 in Gordon Hospital following an extended illness. Helen was born in Bartow county June 13, 1919, daughter of the late Howard W. Johnson and Thelma Brock Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Cochran November 4, 2000 and a brother, Hugh Johnson. She had lived most of her life in Gordon County and was retired from General Electric as a cost accountant. She was the oldest attending member of Belmont Baptist Church; had been a member of the Quilters Group at Belmont. Also, she was a volunteer at the Blewer Food Center. Helen is survived by one son Larry Cochran and his wife, Jane of Ranger; two grandsons, Mark Cochran and his wife, Diana, Michael Cochran and his wife Helena; two great grandsons, Anthony and Joseph Cochran; one step-great- grandson, Ronald Tedder all of Atlanta. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 3 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. John Allen officiating. Jim Sellers will have charge of music and burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Mark Cochran, Michael Cochran, Harry Frix, Dr. Mitchell Frix, Quentin Haynes and Raybun Towers and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:45 Thursday. The Cochran family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. On line condolences may be recorded at www.thomasfuneralhomecalhoun.com.
