Hazel Taylor, age 74, of Calhoun. Died Monday evening September 19th in Gordon Health Care.
Hazel was born October 15, 1936 in Gordon County. Daughter of the late Claude and Mamie Rickett Taylor. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church at Sonoraville and was employed by Wal-Mart as a Customer Services Manager prior to her retirement. Hazel was one of the first organizers of the Gordon County Rescue Squad and was a very active member of the American Red Cross for a number of years. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Sergent, her second husband, Norman Long and her son, Mike Sergent.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Lovett and her husband John of Austell, Vickie Patania and her husband Mike of Calhoun. One son, Alvin Long and his wife Pat of Calhoun. Two brothers, Gene Taylor of Carrollton and Jack Taylor of Fairmount. Nine grandchildren and Nine great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 23rd at 1pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Jason Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday morning from 11am until 1pm prior to the funeral.
