Mrs. Hazel W. O’Neal age 75 of 418 Boulevard Heights, Calhoun, died Friday January 4th. in Gordon Hospital following several months of declining health.
Hazel was born in Gordon County on July 17, 1932 daughter of the late Noel Matthew Wright Sr. and Bessie Blankenship Wright and had spent her entire life here. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church, was a former member of the Shannon Chapter of the of the Eastern Star .She was married to the late John O’Neal Sr. and for many years they had owned and operated Southwind Sales in Calhoun. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a son Stanley Wright O’Neal in 1952 and a grandson Stanley Johathan O’neal in 1993, a brothers Sam, Jack, Murel Wright and N.M. Wright, a sister Mary Cooper..
Survivors include her daughter; Sandra (Sandy) O’Neal of Calhoun, a son and daughter-in-law John and Gayle O’Neal Jr. of Calhoun, 2 sisters- in- law; Dorothy Wright of Mississippi and Deanna Wright of Calhoun and Clemmie Wright of Plainville.., Special friends; Robbie Cox, Geneva Owens, Kayanne Walraven, Betty Reynolds and Virginia Clemente.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday January 6th. at 3:30 P.M. from the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Rev. Doug Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery.
On Sunday the body will lie instate at the church from 2:30 until 3:30 P.M.
Pallbearers serving include Ron Hall, Larry House, Herman Reynolds, D.F. Williams, Sam Thomas and and Howard Baggett and these gentlemen are asked to meet at the Church at 2:15 P.M. Sunday. Honorary Pall bears include Buddy Hawkins, Harvey McWorter, Frank Walraven, Mattie Lou Strain Sunday School Class and Nephews. And they are asked to meet at the church at 3:15 P.M. on Sunday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday Evening.
