Harold Alvin Martin, age 85, of Sugar Valley, passed away Thursday morning, May 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was born January 19, 1937, in Gainesville, Georgia, son of the late Claude J. Martin and Mamie Lee Stewart Martin. In addition to his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by his siblings, Grady Martin, Lacleta Robinson, Geraldine Sailers, Juanita Anderson, Myrtie Lee Garner, Carlton Martin, Seaborn Martin, Alton Martin, Nora Hayes, and Millicent McCabe. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Calhoun Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Harold was a field supervisor and safety director with Pyramid Masonry prior to his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years; Angela Stefanini Martin, three daughters; Scarlette Johnson and her husband David of Winston, Georgia, Roxanna Barry of Suches, Georgia, and Rachel Ayoub and her husband Miguel of Kennesaw, Georgia, one son; Shane Martin and his wife Laura of Douglasville, Georgia, two sisters; Lanelle Romines and Martha Garrison; eight grandchildren, Jessica Todd and husband James, Jared Johnson and his wife Kelli, Jacob Martin and his wife Jaimie, Stephanie Pardue and her husband Claude, Will Martin and his wife Christina, Kendall Barry, Michael Ayoub, and Alexander Ayoub; and six great-grandchildren, Jaxon Todd, Caroline Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Ava Johnson, Naomi Pardue, and Somer Jane Pardue; and two great-grandchildren, William Shane “Liam” Martin II and Claude Pardue III on the way.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Harold Alvin Martin will be conducted on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 11 AM at the Marietta Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 1330 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, GA 30067 with Pastor Mark Caruana officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Mr. Martin will lie in state on Friday, May 13, 2022 an hour prior to the funeral hour at the Marietta Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Burial will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery with military honors afforded by Ft. Benning.
