H.A. Newman

H.A. Newman, age 81 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Advent Health Gordon.

H.A. was born on September 3, 1943 in Fannin County, GA, son of the late Otto Newman and Vesta Cole Newman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his first wife of 54 years, Glenda Newman; one son, Tony Newman; six sisters, Ora Lee Hunter, Ella Vee Davenport, Regena Foster, Frankie Bingham, Aretta Cooper, and Juanita Cobb; and one brother, Charles Newman.

H.A. is survived by: his wife, Nina Pass Newman; two sons, David Newman and Scott Newman; one daughter, Cindy (Oscar) Derrick; six grandchildren, Derek (Erica) Newman, Chase (Angie) Newman, Zack Newman, Hannah (Duston) Priest, Easton (Morgan) Derrick, and Emily Derrick; great-grandchildren, Zaylen Clark, Cuyler Newman, Elle Causby, Kelson Newman, Cyrus Newman, Baylor Newman, Nathan Derrick, and one expected, Lenora Priest; brother-in-law, Estes (Joanne) Pass; and daughter-in-law, Rita Newman.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Joey Henderson and Revered Dewayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include: Derek Newman, Zach Newman, Chase Newman, Easton Derrick, Duston Priest, Wade Reece, and Robert Wright.
