Guss Nunally Barnette,

Guss Nunally Barnette, Jr., age 87 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 in Calhoun Health Care. Guss was born on September 9, 1923 in Gordon County. Son of the late Guss Nunally Barnette, Sr. and Mable Fite Barnette. Guss was a charter member of Belmont Baptist Church and he served in the United States Army during WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Fite and Edwin. And sisters; Lucy, Swea and Betty. Survivors include; his wife, Bernice C. Barnette of Calhoun. One son, Tharell Barnette. One daughter, Freida Kirby and her husband A.C. of Calhoun. One Brother; Billy Barnette and and his wife Nan of Calhoun. Two sisters; Johnnie Barnette and Elizabeth Barnette Dodd of Calhoun. Seven grandchildren, Thirteen great-grandchildren, and Three great-great grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 12th at 3:00p.m. from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Futch officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12th from 2:00 – 3:00p.m. at the funeral home.
