Gregory (Greg) Eugene McEntyre passed away on March 1, 2017, due to complications of open heart surgery.
Greg was born on November 9, 1960 to Robert Wayne “Pruney” McEntyre, Jr. and the late Jackie Smith McEntyre. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Pearl Ray McEntyre; grandfather, Wayne McEntyre, Sr.; and grandmother, Mable Everett. Greg was an owner and operator of McSystems.
Greg is survived by his father Wayne (Pruney) McEntyre, Jr, son and daughter in law, Corey and Lauren McEntyre, son Robert McEntyre, and daughter Kacee McEntyre, as well as his sister Melody McEntyre West and two very special nephews, Clay and Tyler West, who adored him like a father.
He is also survived by Aunt Kayanne Walraven and Uncle Jerry Smith. He is also survived by cousins who he were like and loved as brothers and sisters: Jeffrey Smith, Randy and Valerie Jackson, Frank and Summer Mills, George and Ginger Walraven, and Grant and Julie Walraven. He was like an uncle to their children and grandchildren.
Wherever Greg went he brought joy and laughter to everyone, and he was deeply loved by his family and friends. He loved Georgia Tech athletics, the Calhoun Yellow Jackets, and traveling with his family and friends. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. His kind, giving, and compassionate heart was always willing to help anyone in need, and he will be greatly missed by the countless number of those he touched and impacted over the course of his life.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 4th at 3 PM from the Calhoun Church of Christ with Robert McEntyre, Corey McEntyre and Minister Frank Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Jacin Bagwell, Roger Causby, John Christian, Steve Godwin, Alan Holcomb, Toby Holland, Ben McCormick, George Walraven, Kurt Robbins and Mike Tinch serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 PM until 9 PM at the Calhoun Church of Christ.
