Gloria King Phillips, age 58 of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her residence.
Gloria was born on July 30, 1958 in San Francisco, California to the late Gerald V. King and Gladys Mealor King. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. Gloria was a graduate of Calhoun High School, Class of 1976.
She loved teaching and ministering to children and youth, and was a devoted Pastor’s wife.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Tommy Phillips of Calhoun; two sons, V. Casey Smith and his wife Tonni, and Brandon Phillips and his wife Jessica; one brother, Gerald V. King, Jr. and his wife Sarah; one sister, Gwen Lyall and her husband Lynn; two nephews, Derek Armstrong and his wife Ann, and Brian King; one niece, Kelly and her husband Justin; and three grandchildren, Deven Smith, Bronwyn Smith, and Carson Phillips.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 4th at 10 AM at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Fred McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Greg Tanner, Casey Smith, Brandon Phillips, Derek Armstrong, Brian King, Calvin Benton, Aubrey Williams, Bill Elphingston, Hoss Styler, Carl Hollaran, and Devin Smith.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 PM until 9 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
